Daniel Toman Print Design Portfolio
In Fall 2006, I became Editor-in-Chief of The Quest, the independent student newspaper at Reed College. I launched a complete redesign of the publication, going from a gaudy black & white tabloid format to a two-color 8x11 saddle-stitched magazine. As a paper that wears anti-professionalism on its sleeve, The Quest typically flaunts consistent (or tasteful) style conventions, but as editor I developed a design ethic that strove for clean, attractive layouts that communicated the sophistication I hoped to encourage in our content and readership.
